Membership of The Rural Crafts Preservation Society
costs £5 per year for an individual, £8 for a couple living
at the same address. Membership allows free entry to the
Museum during opening hours throughout the year.
The Museum is run by an enthusiastic
band of volunteers who conserve the artefacts, construct
displays, promote the museum and man the box office during
opening hours. A volunteer can opt to give as little or as
much time as meets their needs.
Those involved in conservation work
usually meet on a Thursday morning to work for 2-3 hours
during autumn and winter. Box office duties involve meeting
members of the general public and ensuring that their visit
is an informative and enjoyable experience. Experience or
knowledge of rural life is not required but enthusiasm and a
smile for visitors are essential.
Volunteers also benefit from a
programme of social events and also from group trips
during the summer months.
Anyone wishing to become a member or a
volunteer should contact the Honorary Secretary,
John Evans
